ABOUT ME

Leandro received a Specialized Master Degree in Baroque singing in the Haute Ecole de Geneve in the class of Nathalie Stutzmann. In 2012 he obtained his Master of Arts in Musical Performance in the Basel Musikhochschule in the class of Isolde Siebert . And in 2009 he received his Bachelor of Arts in Musik in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in the class of Gerd Türk.

As a soloist he has worked with directors and ensembles such as Andrea Marcon, Daniela Dolci, Tomáš Hanzlík, Jörg Wolltche, Gabriel Garrido, Andres Locatelli, Nicolas Farine and Fernando Aguila, Ensemble Damian, Musica Fiorita, Concerto Köln, Basel Chamber Academy, the orquestra of the department of Ancient Music HEM, Musica Amable, El parnaso Espanol, and the  Morello Consort Stuttgart.

He is also very passionate about the use of baroque gesture in secular cantatas and specially arranged Baroque opera concerts. He thus has appared in Germany, Switzerland, Czech Republique and Colombia.

On the operatic stage in Europe and Colombia, Leandro Lafont´s repertoire has included the viceroy Zamano in Gustavo Lara´s opera „Policarpa Salavarrieta“ sung in the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Theater (Colombia), Renfield in Hector Fabio Torres “Dracula“ in the opera Festival of Manizales, the Sorceress and Spirit in Purcell´s „Dido and Aeneas“ in the colombian theater Colon, Embasciatore and Matteo Sassano in Scarlatti´s „Penelope la Casta“ in a opera project of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and the Theater Basel, Endimione in Cavalli´s „La Calisto“ in the Wilhelma Theater Stuttgart,, Farinelli in Carlo Zapata´s „The dream of Farinelli“ in  Theater Jose Maria Rodeiro (Spain), Serggente Magiore and Furore in Cavalli´s Veremonda during the Schwetzingen Festival. Also he has been invited to baroque festivals in Czech Republique, Marques de Santillana in Spain and the Händel Festival in Halle, Germany.  Recently, he sang the  role of Giove in Vinci´s "la Contessa de´ Numi" with Ensemble Damian in  Czech Republique. Lafont sang the main role in Sophie Kasssies´“Schaf“ in a production of the Junge Oper Stuttgart.

Other engagements include performances of Mozart´s "Exsultate Jubilate" with the Morello Consort Stuttgart in Germany,  and Imeneo in Vivaldi´s "La Gloria e Imeneo"  in the Olomouc Baroque Festival with Ensemble Damian.

He has attended several international masterclasses with Ivonne Naef, Vesselina Kasarova, Magreet Honig, Rosa Dominguez, Andrea Scholl, Barbara Hannigan, Evelyn Tubb, Edward Randall as scholarship holder, and baroque gesture courses with Sharon Weller.

He teaches Singing  at the Herxeim Music School for Modern Music and  the Allegro Music School in Iffezheim, and Vocal Ensemble and Singing at the Music School "Musikrearte" in Grötzingen.
